Hotel Gadsden - Douglas, AZ January 4th and 5th, 2009
Joe and Rachael have investigated the Hotel Gadsden once again in 2009. It was a two night stay and on the first night we did not have a chance to explore the hotel, we rather stayed in our room. This time, however, instead of getting room 333 we stayed in room 127.
On the first night we did not have a chance to do a thorough investigation as we had an early morning the next day, but that did not stop us from having the recorder running and asking questions. At different points throughout this session we each were in the main part of the room alone while the other was getting ready for the next day. While Joe
was alone he asked to have a picture knocked off the wall. Right after the
question we hear "Alright"
followed by some other syllables. The last time Tim and
Joe were at the Hotel they had one of their shoes moved, keeping this in mind
for questioning this time we ask some questions regarding that incident. At one
point Joe says he is putting shoes on a chair and gets a response of "He
did it" that we believe is also referencing the shoe moving from a
previous investigation. A few minutes later we caught the eerie sound of what sounds like a baby laughing. Once again, keeping in mind the EVP's from previous investigations, Joe asked if Emmy or Emily was there, followed by "No". While Joe and I are together in the same part of the room again Joe took a picture of me, telling a spirit to stand behind me. When nothing showed up in the photo I expressed my unhappiness that no one wanted to take a picture of me and about 16 seconds later a voice says "Don't look now". Later, while Joe and I are
just talking about random things we caught this strange voice that to me sound
like "Armageddon". The next voice, possibly responding to our earlier questioning about Emily or Emmy, actually says the name. After this there is about 16 seconds of silence followed by something saying "Sit down". At one point during the first night I noticed that the temperature of the room was extremely hot and asked if they could drop the temperature. Joe took a reading and the room was at 78. 43 seconds later Joe took the temperature again and it had dropped to 74 degrees. When Joe says that it had dropped, before he says 74 a voice says what sounds like "Cold". I asked for it to be dropped to 72 but 43 seconds later it was back up to 78. Just over a minute after the temp had dropped and went back up a voice says "That was too cold". It was very interesting to note that we indeed get a temperature drop when we asked and also got a response as to why it did not drop to the 72 degrees like I asked. On the second night, after spending a day in Mexico, we had the chance to explore the Hotel going from floor to floor once again noticing how each floor got less and less impressive as we went up. At
one point as we are walking around I heard a voice and say "I
heard something". When listening to the audio we did catch a voice
right before I said that. After walking around the building we went into the dining room which was beautifully decorated with tile murals and dark woodwork:
In
the dining room Joe and I decided to do some provoking, as a man in a white suit
is reputed to appear, likening him to people such as Colonel Saunders and the Bee Gee's.
Unfortunately we go no response to our provoking.
I sat alone at the counter in the diner on the opposite end of the dining room as Joe had pointed out that if you were a "lady" you did not sit alone at the counter. Hoping to evoke a response I did just that, but no proper ghost took the bait.
While sitting on the floor in the Kopper room I kept getting the impression that the whole room was moving in on me...it was not really a heavy feeling but I felt claustrophobic even though it was a large room and I am no claustrophobic in the least. I thought that it was the carpet giving off an optical illusion of some sort but the feeling persisted even when I was standing up and not looking directly at the carpet. I was not talkative at all in the Kopper Room and a heavy feeling persisted with me throughout our time in there.
At
one point Joe asks for something to play a song on the piano positioned in the
corner of the room, followed by a response of "I
don't wanna". The next voice we got was while I was sitting on the floor against the wall taking pictures across the room, like the one above. Joe was standing up an not near me at this point when I am talking about taking pictures and I can see all the dust in the room. A voice clearly speaks into Joe's recorder and to me it sounds like "Go pink shadow". Interestingly enough we also caught the same voice on my recorder. We also got an interesting voice that sounds like "Poncho Villa", although "Villa" is pronounced with hard L's rather than the Y sound, perhaps referring to the story of Poncho's famous ride up the marble staircase in the lobby when his horse's shoe chipped out a piece of the marble. Before we end the session Joe asks
"Who is in this room?" and we got the response of "Mike". Although Joe and I did not get the same feeling of heaviness while we were in room 127, we were pleasantly surprised with all the EVP activity we found upon review. It once again proves to us that the Gadsden Hotel is not only haunted but also a treasure chest of EVP activity.
