Individual Residence - Moorhead, MN

Rachael was invited to do a cleansing at an individual residence by outside investigator Liz. Rachael and Liz were the only two people at the investigation. The house did have two cats present that were locked in one bedroom during the entirety of the investigation.  Plains Paranormal does not specialize in or endorse cleansing but we also do not dissuade or discourage it. By request of the residents names and locations are being withheld and no pictures were taken.  Liz was joined, through text messaging, with a medium she works with located out of state. Plains Paranormal does want to state that Liz was getting these text messages because she shares her experiences with the medium but Plains Paranormal does not base investigations on mediums. We offer all of the information to our readers for his or her own interpretation.
While this was mainly a cleansing, Rachael was allowed to bring in her recorder to tape the session.

The residents have experienced many unexplained occurrences in the three years they have lived in the house. The activity, per the resident, seemed to stem from a teenager that lived in the house prior to them. When they first moved in there was a door in the basement to the teens room that had "get out" scrawled in black paint. Walls have been sense knocked down and the basement renovated. It has been noted and speculated that renovations of a location
can cause activity to occur. If a spirit or entity is used to their house the way it was they may become upset or restless when that comfort of familiarity is taken away.

Soon after they moved in they inquired with a neighbor as to the history of the house and its inhabitants. They were told that the family moved abruptly after the teenage boy was put into a mental hospital elsewhere in the state. In this institution the boy committed suicide. Through research Rachael has verified these claims as facts and they occurred as they were told to the
residence.

After the resident was told the story of the previous inhabitants she decided to keep a piece of furniture, a T.V. stand that was left thinking that if the spirit of the teen was still there he would feel better with something he was used to there. However, before the investigation took place she was told by the medium that she needed to get rid of whatever she kept from the previous residents. The T.V. stand was placed outside of a side door leading from the house for later removal from the property. The medium was not told the whereabouts of the stand, just that it had been removed from the house.

Liz was armed with a dried bundle of sage, sea salt, marbles and oil. In my research I have unfortunately not been able to find much info as to why sea salt except that is a tradition that is believed to ward off evil. She also had certain incantations she was to say while completing each step of the cleansing. Rachael was mainly an observer at the time Liz was setting up. She first put sea salt in all corners of the house - the closets and basement included - and on each mound of sea salt a marble was placed. She then took the oil and after placing a finger in the bowl she would press it above all the doors and windows while saying that no evil spirits were allowed to enter the house. The bundle of sage was then lit (but would not stay continually lit throughout...possibly ghostly interference?) and we were to walk around each room in the clockwise direction while waving the sage and saying a mix of things such as "go towards the light", "your place is no longer in this house" and "you must leave this place".

This part was surprisingly inactive...I guess I was expecting books to come flying off the shelf or furniture to go flying. I should know by now that anything to do with ghosts are not much like in the movies. However when reviewing the evidence I did catch an EVP while we were in the basement. I noted that I thought I heard something moving around upstairs then note to my self that the cats are locked up...after I say that I got another voice saying "cause they're locked up."  After the voice I than Liz talks and you can hear how we sound by the recorder.

While Liz was setting up the investigation I had the recorder running. She was in a bedroom and I had snuck off to the bathroom when we caught this voice on the recorder saying "Get Out!" This was very surprising since the recorder was on a coffee table while both Liz and I were not in the room and the cats were locked up. Before the voice it seems as though there is something right next to the recording rustling some sort of object.  As you can hear when Liz and I talk after we are not in the room.

When we were done with the cleansing we sat on the couch to discuss the events when Liz sent the medium a message if she could read if the spirit was out of the house. The only response she got back was a question if the T.V. stand had been removed. Liz said yes, it is gone, but is the spirit? Once again the medium asked if the stand was gone. Liz exasperatedly told me that she keeps asking if the stand is gone even after she says yes. She then got a message that the spirit is outside the door with the stand....Liz and I looked at each other amazed that someone thousands of miles away would know the stand was just outside the door when she had been only told it was removed. At this point the investigation was over and Liz and I disposed of the T.V. stand.

This was the first cleansing I have been a part of and while it was nothing like I expected it was still a very interesting experience. Taking into account the stories from multiple people of things happening there as well as the information from the medium and the EVP's we captured I do believe that there is paranormal activity in the house...or was paranormal activity in the house.

It is always hard when you believe you are communicating with the spirit of a child, or in this case a teenager. The tragic feelings and loneliness he must have felt to lead him to think suicide was the only way out. Although nothing to this point had been threatening to the residences they were feeling uncomfortable with this ghostly intrusion and decided it was time he leave for, hopefully, his final resting place.

Currently there are no plans of doing a follow up investigation.
