Individual Residence - Fargo, ND October 17th, 2008 Equipment used - Voice recorder, K2 meter, digital camera and video camera with night vision. Plains Paranormal was referred to a case in Fargo, ND where an individual was experiencing paranormal activity in his home. Rachael conducted the investigation with the help of outside investigator Liz. The resident of the house requested to be present while the investigation took place and that all information would be kept confidential. Background The resident had many experiences, none of which he could explain. He is the only individual in the house and owns no animals. The house was built in 1955 and is a rambler with a finished basement. We do know the previous owner was an elderly lady whose husband had died but we have not been able to obtain any information as to whether or not the death took place in the house. He reported seeing shadows in the entry way from the living room into the hallway that leads to the kitchen and bedrooms as well as the closet at the end of the hall. He would see these shadows out of the corner of his eye and they would have no specific shapes. While the resident was sleeping on the couch he would wake up, between 2 AM and 3 AM, with a pressure on his chest and he would see a black mass floating above him. This mass would be about 5 feet off the ground at its tallest point. In one incident he woke up, again between the 2 and 3 am hours, to the sound of glass breaking in his basement. When he went to check on it there was nothing broken. He also checked outside the basement windows to see if one had shattered but all the windows were intact. The resident uses a land line in his house and has a second phone located in his basement. He has reported, on multiple occasions, while he is on the upstairs phone he will hear the downstairs phone pick up and can also hear someone breathing on the other end. He does go downstairs to check each time it has happened and the phone is on the hook and no one is down there. Also in the basement he has reported feeling a great sense of unease in the corner where the phone is as well as by a closet next to the same phone. He has also reported receiving phone calls many times between 1 AM and 2 AM. When he picks up the phone the call is disconnected immediately. He has tried to dial back the ph# but the number that the call was placed from is 000-000-0000. The most recent activity took place less than 24 hours before Plains Paranormal was called in to investigate. The door leading down to the basement has a very distinct "creak" when it is opened. The resident awoke to the sound of the door opening but when he went into the kitchen to check the door it was shut as well as latched. Investigation Since most of the activity seemed to be focused on the basement, this is where I decided to start our investigation. We sat in the main room in the basement where the phone is located by the closet the resident reports to feel unease around. I had the camera on night vision facing the closet as well as the phone while we conducted the EVP session. During this session, we had the K2 meter on the floor in front of the closet. It was a solid two green lights from the first moment we set it down. It appeared as though, while we asked certain questions, the light would go to the first yellow and hold steady (review all evidence and provide examples here). This happened more than once and seemed very anomalous considering the constant level the k2 meter was on before certain questions were asked. This happened once again while we were in the kitchen focusing on the door to the basement. We also did a sweep of the basement and could not find any energy spikes that may account for the uneasiness the residence feels in the corner of the basement with the closet. Upstairs we did an evp session in the living room. I decided the resident should be positioned on the couch to see if we could catch a black mass. At this time we were getting some interesting readings on the K2 as it was on the coffee table in front of the couch. It was again at a steady 2 green lights and would pop to yellow when certain questions were asked. I did observe that when cars drove by the headlights would create light on the walls of the living room. However they were not shadows and were about 8 feet off the ground by the ceiling. At one point the resident asked that I take a picture of the entryway into the hall leading to the bedrooms and the kitchen as he believed to see a black mass reach or look around the corner on the side leading to the bedrooms. At this time we started receiving messages from a medium that outside investigator Liz knows saying she was tuned into the house and was getting readings. Plains Paranormal does want to state that Liz was getting these text messages because she shares her experiences with the medium but Plains Paranornal does not base investigations on mediums. We do want to share this information as once we were getting the information from the meduim and aksing questions based on the info activity started to increase. We offer all of the information to our readers for his or her own interpretation. The medium said there indeed was a spirit in the house and it was either under or by the basement stairs. I took the camera that had been focused on the resident on the couch and put it in the kitchen facing the basement door. We congregated in the kitchen with the K2 meter and the recorder to start a new EVP session. The medium was still relaying to us the feelings she was tuning into that had to do with the house. The feelings and readings she was supplying us with were very specific. She stated that there was a little girl there, about 5-6 years old and her name was Tabitha. We took this information into account and started to ask questions based on this. At this point the activity on the K2 meter jumped. The k2 meter was on the floor about a foot and a half in front of the refrigerator with the recorder next to it as well as a small baseball (if the ghost should want to move something!). When I placed the k2 meter on the floor it was at a solid three lights with the yellow the highest light lit. It stayed that way for a while until we received the specific information regarding the spirit and started asking questions based on that specific information. (insert actual examples here - responding to name, siblings, peek-a-boo, etc...) As the EVP session wound down I was very excited to have seen activity on the K2 meter. I found it very interesting that the k2 was on an almost constant two green lights no matter where we were in the house and would go up to the yellow and back down but never stayed on one green light. Conclusion With the evidence I collected I would hesitate to say the house was haunted but I do believe there are paranormal activities there. Recieving information from the medium was a new experience for Plains Paranormel. It is not something we will employ on upcoming investigations but I did find it fascenating that the information was so detailed. I, of course, have no way of disproving the messages we were receiving. As soon as we started receiving the messages, and were asking questions based on them, the activity certainly did spike. Plains Paranormal currently has plans to do a follow up investigation at the residence.
